March 2026: RCO3 Workshop - Scaling N2-fixation from genes to ecosystems
Our final working group met at Baylor University in Waco, TX for an in-person workshop to continue subgroup efforts aimed at catalyzing new understanding of the spatial and temporal dynamics of nitrogen fixation across inland and coastal waters by integrating global data on rates, diazotroph biodiversity, and environmental conditions.
June 2024: Joint special session at ASLO and SFS meetings
Special session - Exploring Nitrogen Fixation along the Freshwater-Marine Continuum: A Joint ASLO-SFS Endeavor
We are pleased to be organizing the ONLY join session between the two conferences (session S12 part 1, S12 part 2 at SFS and SS14 at ASLO), including updates on RCO 1 and 2 products and presentations about Nitrogen Fixation across aquatic habitats. Join us on Tuesday June 4 at 1:30 pm ET/ 12:30 pm CT for a series of 12 talks alternating between the two venues, shared via Zoom and the internet. There are also 3 posters presentations that are part of the session at ASLO!
October 2023: RCO2 Workshop - Stoichiometric drivers and constraints on N2-fixation
Our working group met at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI for our in-person workshop to explore the stoichiometric couplings and constraints of N2-fixation across the aquascape. Our group continued developing stoichiometric models and synthesizing data on the stoichiometric imbalance of N, P, C and other nutrients that are essential for controlling N2-fixation.
